The S1 Pro's navigation and mapping are top-quality, with the dToF LiDAR system in the internal unit allowing it to maintain a low profile while still offering top-of-the-line object avoidance. It is able to drive close to walls and avoid steps without falling. It also raises the mop when driving on short-pile or rugs carpets. However, it struggled in the presence of longer-pile carpets and several large, thick piles of dried-on debris.
Like all robots like it, the S1 Pro comes ready to come out of the box and needs only a quick initial mapping run to figure out how it can navigate your home. The map will be displayed in the app and you can add or join rooms as you need to. You can also set virtual boundaries and no-go zones if there's something you don't want the robot to touch.
The S1 Pro does a great job of removing messes from hard floors, thanks to its rotating mop head that puts 2.2lbs (1kg) of downward pressure on the floor. Its ability to both vacuum and mop is a great choice for homes that have floors of both types. However, its dependence on Eufy cleaning products (which are included in the box) makes it less adaptable than other robots which permit you to include your own cleaning products.
